Birthday Boy

Wake up Birthday Boy!

The sun shining through the window signaled the beginning of a very special day. One year ago today, our little boy Ammon took his first breath. He has been a wonderful little sunbeam that has given us reason to smile each morning. We are very lucky to have such a blessing.

Ammon & Aman

Recenlty we have had the pleasure of making friends with the Singh family from India. Incredibly, our son's names are pronounced the same. It is no wonder Ammon and Aman became friends so quickly. They had a lot of fun with the patrol car together at the birthday party. No arrests were made, but they issued a warning for disturbing the peace.

Ammon, his Birthday Cake and Asahi-kunAfter playing a few games at the party, Monica started frosting the cake. Three year old Asahi-kun immediately came close by and watched with real intent. He asked, “Whats that?” “This is a birthday cake,” Monica answered. “What kind of cake is that?” he said thinking aloud. “This one has peaches,” Monica said. “Oh! I like peaches!” said Asahi-kun. “… and banannas, and whipped-cream,” Monica added. “Oh my! I like banannas too!” exclaimed Asahi-kun.
Such was the beginning of Asahi’s friendship with Ammon and his cake. The rest of the party Asahi-kun played very nice with Ammon. When it was time to blow out the candle, Asahi-kun sat close to Ammon – giving him all the support his three years could lend – to help Ammon blow out the candle, and eat his birthday cake.

I'm Big Now
At the birthday party, the bigger kids were climbing on a jungle-gym, this included Aman, Asahi-kun, and the other kids who are all at least a year and a half older than Ammon. Now that he’s at the ripe ol’ age of one, Ammon won’t sit idley by and watch the kids climb. When no one was looking, he snuck over to the jungle-gym and rung by rung he climbed. Only when he reached the summit did his mother see him. Sadly, her shreak caused him to loose his balance and tumble to the floor. Ammon brushed aside any pain the fall may have given him; he surmounted the challenge, he had overcome, he had conqured, he was a year old and nothing could stop him.

Food and the Fun that Goes With It

Ammon is a master at making a mess, and only slightly less skillful at craming huge fist-fulls of food in his mouth. This leads to a lot of interesting photo opertunities.
And also many chances for Ammon’s father to step up to the plate and take a swing at hands on childreering.
Good times!
